Laura Mercier Face Illuminator

I finally bought the Laura Mercier Face Illuminator ($73) after wanting it for so long. I also got the Zoeva Luxe Highlight Blush & Contour brush ($28) because I don’t have a proper highlighter brush and they do really good brushes.

So I got the shade Devotion for the Face Illuminator. It’s a cool pink highlight and matches my skin tone the best. They also have Indiscretion- a warm rose gold highlight, Seduction- a soft bronze highlight and Addiction- a gilded gold highlight. It’s great that there is one for every skin tone and I love the names they match every colour so well!

One of the reasons why I’ve been wanting to get it because it’s oil-free and dermatologist tested. I’ve really sensitive skin that breaks out easily so I usually only use oil-free products on my face.

The packaging is pretty, it comes in a sleek black compact and I like the fact that it has a little mirror as well. The powder palatte itself is beautiful- Devotion is a lovely pearly pink colour that sparkles and it has a crumbled bedsheet effect that is really cute. You just want to dive into it.

This is actually my first time trying a powder highlighter and I’ve actually stopped wearing highlighter since coming back to Singapore as I’m always too shiny from the humidity lol.

I found the highlighter not that easy to put on and I wouldn’t say that it’s a creamy texture like the website claims. Also, the pigments in the palatte seemed to fall off every time I dipped my brush in. However when I put it on it’s a beautiful subtle pink shimmer and just as it promises it is very buildable and you can turn it into an intense glow if you layer it.

Zoeva brush

I couldn’t wait to try out the Zoeva brush it looks so cute and it comes in a gorgeous rose golden colour as well (I really wanted that one but couldn’t find it at Sephora). The tapered shape is perfect for highlighting. The bristles are really soft and silky on your skin and does feel nice and luxurious. It also works well in blending the highlighter with your foundation. The brush doesn’t hold onto product much so I think it would be easy to clean it. Apparently, it doesn’t shed either – I hope that’s true. It’s a great quality brush at a very reasonable price.

Overall I like the Illuminator, it has a nice subtle radiant finish and is very buildable – I’ll definitely continue using it. But I think I still prefer liquid highlighters because they just go on more easily for my skin. I also feel that this highlighter is a bit on the pricey side. I really like the Zoeva highlighter brush and would definitely recommend getting it. X
