Plain Vanilla cupcakes

Nothing plain about these cupcakes ☆

It’s been so depressing not being able to go out and have afternoon tea and not to mention being cooped up at home day after day. I have been ordering afternoon tea in for the last couple of months and it does make this time spent on lock down so much more bearable.

So I ordered a box of 4 cupcakes from Plain Vanilla over the weekend. I’ve tried their cupcakes before at the Telok Ayer branch and was really impressed. There are 4 branches in Singapore at Tiong Bahru, Cluny Court, Ion Orchard and Telok Ayer. They have everyday bakes (cucpakes, cakes, cookies, brownie, tarts and pastries) and celebratory cupcakes where you can even custom write stuff on each cupcake like ‘I love you’ – how cute!

On deliveroo you can order a box of 4 for S$19.80 or a box of 6 for S$28.25 and I chose 4 – red velvet, vanilla bean, cookies & cream and milk choc chip. They have other yummy flavours like salted caramel, carrot, strawberry white chocolate, earl grey lavander, chocolate hazelnut, dark chocolate ganache, milk chocolate banana and cinnamon brown sugar. Literally every delicious flavour you can dream of. They also do specials which vary which is such a good idea!

What I love about Plain Vanilla cupcakes is that they are so soft and moist and literally melt in your mouth. They are also full of flavour and the forsting on top is incredible. They are my favourite cupcakes in Singapore and my favourite flavour is milk chocolate chip! I love milk chocolate and the bits of milk chocolate chips in the cupcake is DIVINE. My least favourite flavour is vanilla – it was good but didnt taste much like vanilla bean and had a smokey aftertaste which was weird.

I would definitely order the cupcakes again! (is next week too soon??) And they make the perfect gift if you want to send some edibles over to a loved one during this crazy time. Definitely try it out! X

May home decor

Corner goals ♡

I recently wanted to spruce up my bedroom and make it more chic. It’s been very basic all these years with just a bed and a dressing table. The room has an island tropical feel with lots of wood, white/cream tones and rattan. This month I decided to order 3 new items to transform a corner of the room – an ottoman, a bamboo basket and some dried flowers.

The Ottoman Coffee Table that I got is from FortyTwo and it is currently on sale at S$149.90 instead of the usual price of S$249.90. I got the one that is beige in colour – it also comes in grey and brown. I’ve ordered items from FortyTwo before and have always been pleased with them. The ottoman I got has a lovely fabric upholstory, a solid birch inner structure and opens up to provide storage space. It can act as a table to place objects on, a seat or a stool to rest your feet on. I love it and think it’s such a good deal at the discounted price! Plus you can actually store quite a bit of things in it so it’s functional as well.

I also ordered the Glam Round Basket from Island Living that was on sale costing S$50 instead of the usual price of S$130. It comes in 3 sizes – small, medium and large and I got the small one which is 30cm by 35cm. This is the first item I’ve ordered from Island Living and it is as beautiful in person as on the website. It is made of handwoven bamboo and is white with a brown rim. It has an island vibe yet is really glamourous just as it’s name suggests! It can be used as a vase or a laundry basket and looks stunning in my room. I will definitely be ordering more items from Island Living in the future!

Last but not least I got some beige dried flowers from Cold Storage which cost S$8. I thought they would look beautiful in the bamboo basket and they really do look pretty and match perfectly with it.

These 3 simple items that I bought has really transformed my room and that corner is looking super cosy and gorgeous. Really happy with my buys! 🙂 X

Pore problem

La Roche-Posay party

I’m back to blogging again after 8 mths! It’s a crazy time now with the coronavirus spreading across the world and causing widespread panic and with quarantines and circuit breakers put in place :(. I hope everyone is staying safe and keeping sane at home. On the bright side we are given an opportunity to stop and take a bit of a break from the world and perhaps focus more on ourselves and what we need. It’s also the perfect time to focus on our skincare regime! Without having to go out and put on make up we can give our skin a much needed breather. My skin got pretty bad a month ago – I’ve been having small break outs and my pores seem to have gotten larger. What better time than now to tackle this problem?!

There are a few reasons as to why people have enlarged pores. Firstly it is due to excessive sebum produced resulting in very oily skin. Another is that as you age, the elasticity around pores decrease and this makes them look bigger. Also too much exposure to the sun can increase your pore size as it thickens your skin and reduces your skin’s collagen. Genetics is another reason for large pores, chances are you have inherited it from a parent. Also fun fact – guys have larger pores than us girls although hormonal highs and lows can cause pores to look larger.

Effaclar Micro-peelimg purifying gel

So what can we do about large pores? Well one thing you can do is to exfoliate regularly. This helps to remove oil and dead skin from your face that makes your pores look smaller. It also brightens your skin. There are two kinds of exfoliators: Physical exfoliators which are cleansers and Chemical exfoliators that are either AHAs (Alpha-Hydroxy acids) or BHAs (Beta-Hydroxy acids). Remember not to over-exfoliate your skin (not more than twice a week) though as this could make it inflamed and very dry. The exfoliator I chose to get 2 weeks ago is the La Roche-Posay (you know I love their products :D) Effaclar Micro-Peeling Purifying Gel. This gel actually has the highest percentage of salicylic acid (2%) in the Effaclar range is meant to unclog pores from dead cells on the face, chest and back acne. It comes in a green tube that’s 200ml and cost S$36.90. It has a smooth gel texture which isn’t sticky and is clear coloured. Key ingredients are salicylic acid is meant to unclog pores and clear imperfections, LHA (beta-lipohydroxy acid) which is meant to micro-exfoliate skin gently and refine pores, and Zinc deeply purifies the skin and reduces excess oil. Salicylic acid is a BHA and LHA is a derivative of Salicylic Acid which decreases the concentration of bacteria found within pores. Zinc has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities and helps to regulate oil. When you lather it on your face there’s a sight tingling sensation after a few seconds but it doesn’t irritate my extremely sensitive skin. After using it for the first time, I noticed my skin was softer and felt really refreshed. I need to use it for a longer time to tell whether it helps small acne, blackheads and pigmented marks (which it also claims to improve). I really like the fact that you can use it on your back if you get back acne as well. I do really enjoy using it though and hope to see results over time.

Effaclar Unclogging purifying sebo-controlling mask

Another thing you can do to help minimise pores is to use a clay mask consistently. They are a great way to absorb excessive oil. It gives your skin a temporary tightened sensation. Overusing them can however dry out the skin and worsen the ageing process. Also don’t exfoliate and use a clay mask on the same day as this could be overkill. I have been using the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Unclogging purifying sebo-controlling mask for nearly a year (I did a review about it last year). It comes in a blue 100ml tube and cost S$25.90. It has a creamy clay texture and goes onto the skin like a dream. You’re supposed to apply it twice a week and leave it on for at least 5 minutes before insing it off (I like to leave it on for a bit longer). Key ingredients are Kaolin and Argilla that have natural absorbing properties, Panthenol that has a smooth and limit rebound effect and Cellulobeads which neutralize pollution impurities. It also contains citric acid which is an AHA (though some formulations are BHAs) and is used to dry out excess sebum and clean out dead skin cells deep in your pores. I love this mask it’s not harsh at all on my sensitive skin and has really produced visible results! It has minimised my pores, reduced excessive oil without drying up my skin and always leaves me feeling refreshed. I have to admit I’ve stopped using it the last few months which could be why my skin could have gotten worse!

Pure Vitamin C10

One more thing that you can add to your skincare routine is Vitamin C. Vitamin C also known as Ascorbic acid has a lot of benefits for the skin – it is an antioxidant that helps with anti-ageing, evens out skin tone and enhances radiance. Antioxidants like Vitamin C are key in pore-minimising serums as they unclog congested pores, dead skin and reduce excess sebum. They also help in increasing collagen production. You should slowly ease into using it as it could cause a reaction in sensitive skins. Also another important thing to note is if the Vitamin C serum you purchased turns brown (it should be a light yellow colour) stop using it as Vitamin C oxidizes over time. The vitamin C serum I chose to try was the La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C10 anti-wrinkle anti-oxidant renovating serum. It comes in a cute 30ml orange bottle with a syringe you can attach and cost S$79.90 (the most expensive of the lot). It’s meant to help with wrinkles, a lack of radiance and irregular texture. So the first time I used this I LOVED it! It has a really velvety non-greasy texture and absorbs really fast. Key ingredients are Pure Vitamin C (obviously), Salicylic Acid to promote clear skin and exfoliate and smooth at the same time, and Neurosensine a smoothing peptide which helps with skin irritation and is anti-inflammatory. After using it my skin really did feel instantly hydrated and looked really glowy – I apply it to my face and neck every other day. I’ve only used it for a couple week so I’ve yet to see if it really helps my pores but my skin already looks and feels so much better! It’s supposed to be good as a make-up base as well – I haven’t had the chance to use it under make-up but will update this post once I do.

In conclusion I’m really happy with the 3 La Roche-Posay products I got to help with my pore problem. I love the brand and they have really quality products with the best ingredients. My skin and pores have improved so much the last 2 weeks probably because I’ve hardly been wearing make-up and have been using these 3 products religiously. My favourites would have to be the clay mask and vitamin c serum as they really produce massive results every time I use them and they will definitely remain as regulars in my skincare regime. It is also so important that you use moisturizer and make-up that doesn’t clog up your pores (noncomedogenic), spf and remember to take off your make-up before bed every night. Hope this post was helpful to those who have the same pore problem as me and thanks for stopping by! X

Eye care for July

I haven’t posted for awhile I was really busy with my job. I’ve been pretty stressed the last month and haven’t been sleeping as much as I’d like to and have had a bad fever the last couple of days 😦 I’ve also noticed my dark eye circles and general condition of skin around my eye has worsened this last month – so I’ve been trying to fix that and bought the First Aid Beauty Fab Skin Lab Retinol eye cream, ITcosmetics Confidence in an eye cream and CNP Laboratory Hydrogel Eye Lifting Patch a week ago.

Its my first time trying a product from First Aid Beauty, they seem to have risen out of nowhere and taken the beauty market by storm. I love the signature pretty white and blue packaging with red splashes. And love how the name of the brand is FAB in short! I got the Retinol eye cream from Sephora and it comes in a small 15 mL tube costing SGD 65 – it’s quite pricey. I’m not sure how long this will last..

Retinol is the gold standard for anti-ageing and has many benefits to the skin. This cream claims to have microencapsulated retinol so retinol is delivered over time making it safe to apply close to the eyes- one of the most sensitive areas. It has a 0.25% concentration of retinol, quite low but enough to do the job. It helps to stimulate collagen production and cellular turnover to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It also contains another super ingredient tri-molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid which locks in moisture and plumps multiple levels of the skin. Other great ingredients are Caffeine which reduces puffiness and Micro-Pearls which help to boost radiance and blur imperfections. It also has FAB’s Skin Saver Complex which is a blend of Colloidal Oatmeal, Allantoin, Aloe, Ceramides and Vitamins C and E to nourish and smoothen sensitive skin.

I have used this eye cream for a month now and really like it. Love that it’s fragrance free and lightweight so it doesn’t feel sticky on the skin like some creams do. And it doesn’t bother my eyes at all even though they are usually really sensitive. Plus I actually do see a visible difference- I notice the skin under my eyes are smoother and more radiant plus my make up definitely goes on better under my eyes! The antioxidant boost is pretty amazing and it does make me look like Iv’e had a few more hours of sleep than I really had. I don’t see it doing much for my dark eye circles though and I still have panda eyes.

IT Confidence in an Eye Cream

I’ve been wanting so try out IT cosmetics for ages -the packaging is soo cute and they use real models who dont have perfect flawless skin so you can really see the effect of their skincare and makeup. I love the fact that the products have been developed by leading plastic surgeons and are supposed to deliver innovative problem solving products that harness cutting-edge anti-ageing technologies and are filled with skin-loving ingredients.

The IT cosmetics Confidence in an eye cream comes in a 15ml jar costing SGD $62 – very similar price as the FAB Retinol eye cream. I got it from Sephora as well. It comes in a pale yellow jar with a silver cap and looks so cute and dreamy! Its supposed to have anti-ageing benefits and deliver hydration for the most sensitive skins. It also has an apricot tint that is supposed to visibly colour correct, brighten your eye area and reduce the appearance of dark circles. It’s infused with super ceramide complex, chrysim, licorice root, avocado, ginseng, collagen, peptides, green coffee and green tea, hyaluronic acid and squalane – basically all the yummy fabulous ingredients that you would want in your eye cream!!

So I’ve been using it for a month and I really enjoy it. It has a thick creamy texture and feels lovely and luxurious on the skin. It really hydrates the undereye area with visible results after each application. It does also help smooth the little wrinkles under my eyes. I must say it hasn’t done anything for my dark circles either (but thats not much of a surprise at this point lol).

The Hydrogel Eye Lifting Patch is meant to be a concentrated eye treatment for hydrating and firming the eye area. The brand is Korean and everyone is obsessed with Korean beauty products now. CNP Laboratory is one of the top-selling cosmeceutical brands from South Korea and they have won loads of awards. They also market themselves as having all natural skin products which is attractive. The eye mask is enriched with vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen and Vitamin E – sounds amazing! It’s also supposed to improve the circulation under your eyes. It does however contain mineral oil and fragrance which I’m not too thrilled about and I wasn’t sure if it was going to irritate my skin. I got it from Guardian at SGD 6. There are 4 eye masks in the packet and they come in cute little sealed pouches that you have to tear open.

I’ve used 3 so far leaving it on for 15 minutes each time. I really enjoy using them they really moisturize my under-eye area and leave me feeling refreshed! And they didn’t break me out at all or irritate my skin whatsoever. It’s great to use when you are going out in a few hours and want a quick pick me up!

Overall I really enjoy using these 3 products and see a big improvement in the under-eye area. I would say the best product is the FAB Retinol eye cream though I enjoy using the itcosmetics Confidence in an eye cream the most – does that make sense?! And the hydrogel lifting patch is great to use especially when my eyes are puffy and dry and I’m going out in a few hours. X

La Roche-Posay Effaclar skincare

I’ve read so many good reviews about La Roche-Posay and have been wanting to try out their skincare products for so long. So this month I bought their Micellar water and Clay mask from their Effaclar range. The Effaclar range is targeted at people with oily and blemish-prone skin, but it’s not meant to dry out the skin as well – Perfect for me!

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micellar Water Ultra

The Effaclar Micellar Water Ultra comes in a cute pale blue bottle and the 100 ml one costs S$15. It is supposed to remove impurities from dirt, oil, make up and even pollution while remaining gentle on the skin. One of the ingredients Zinc helps with sebum production control and is supposed to soothe acne. It also has it’s dreamy signature ingredient – La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water which is rich in antioxidants. It has a water-like texture and is suitable for the face, eyes and lips. Plus it has no soap, no colorants, no alcohol and no parabens. I like this Micellar water and notice that it leaves my skin really clean, clear but not dry. This small 100 ml bottle may not be the most worth your money but it’s great for travelling!

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Unclogging Purifying Sebo-controlling mask

I’ve also been looking for a good mask for awhile and decided to try this one out. This Effaclar Unclogging Purifying Sebo-controlling mask comes in a bright blue crisp tube and a 100 ml bottle costs S$25.90 which is very reasonable. It is supposed to eliminate excess oils and invisible impurities, and as a result produce brighter clearer skin. You are only supposed to use it up to 3 times a week so it doesn’t dry your skin out. It has also been tested on acne-prone skin. It comes in a bright blue tube and the mask is white and has a nice creamy clay texture. I’ve only been using it once a week and I find that good enough. So you just spread it over a clean washed face and I usually leave it on for 20 mins instead of the recommended 5 mins. It rinses off easily which I can’t say for all masks and really does leave my skin feeling so fresh and clean! And though it mattifies my face it doesn’t dry it out. It contains perfume but it’s very light and not harsh on the skin at all. It does however also contain alcohol too which is not ideal.

I really enjoy using the Micellar Water and Mask from the La Roche-Posay Effaclar collection and find that they have reduced the excess oil on my face and improved the overall condition of my skin. I will definitely keep using them and try out more products from La Roche-Posay! X

Bananas over Jonathan Adler

pic 99.jpg
Teddy, Michael, Jackson, and the banana

Jonathan Adler is one of my favourite furniture shops, I love the modern American glamour that their stuff oozes and eclectic charm. There is also a surrealistic twist in his artwork that always brings a smile to your face. I love the fact that he doesn’t take his designs too seriously, has so much fun with them and is sometimes sooo naughty with a “99% classicism and 1% witticism” secret formula.

Whenever I go to the UK or Thailand I always make sure I buy back some something from Jonathan Adler because they don’t carry his stuff here in Singapore. I love his animal sculptures and was deciding between the dog and the walrus. I ended up buying the white dog at 60 Sloane Avenue for S$140 (60% off) when I spent Christmas in London and was happy that I got it! He is such a cutie. And I got the black dog in Bangkok at CentralWorld shopping mall for S$140 (60% off). He is gorgeous. I’m really upset that they are closing their Bangkok shop. I am obsessed with them and think they look fantastic at the entrance of my door. I have named them Michael and Jackson. Teddy is still quite weary of Michael and Jackson and never gets too close to them, but I am sure he will accept them eventually.

I also got the fabulous banana vase for S$80 (full price) from London. I love bananas and vases so what could be better than a banana vase? I just have to find the perfect flower for it- I think a sunflower would be ideal.

Definitely check out Jonathan Adler’s shop if you ever get the chance to, I’m sure that like me you’ll find it hard to leave empty-handed! x

Laura Mercier Foundation and Lippie review

pic 95
Wearing Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere radiance-Perfecting Foundation, Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour and Laura Mercier Face Illuminator ❤

I LOVE Laura Mercier products they are always so beautifully packaged and usually really good quality. I bought the Face Illuminator a few months and really like it – so last month I decided to try their latest foundation and their lippie.

pic 97.jpg
Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour

So I got the Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour from Sephora for S$42 in shade Golden Peach, which is meant to be a pink rose colour. It’s supposed to deliver a creamy coat of intense, liquid, demi-matte colour. In comes in 9 different shades. The packaging is pretty- a glass casing with a chrome cap. I love the colour its a gorgeous peach with a lot of gold undertones that would look good on every skin colour. But that is about the only thing I liked about this. I found the applicator really weird and flat, and the texture of the lippie was really weird as well- like a thin film over your lips. It gets really flaky just an hour after I apply it and makes my lips really dry (you can see it in my photo). It’s supposed to dry down to a demi-matte finish but it shouldn’t be this drying. After using it for a few weeks my lips are really dry and in such bad condition! I’m really disappointed in this lippie and it’s the worst Laura Mercier product I’ve ever tried. Plus this really shouldn’t be happening for a high-end lipstick. Really wish I got the Lip Glace instead and I will definitely not be repurchasing this. 😦

pic 96.jpg
Flawless Lumiere Radiance Perfecting Foundation

My boyfriend got the Flawless Lumiere Radiance Perfecting Foundation (what a mouthful) a few weeks ago from Sephora for me. A 30 ml bottle cost S$80. I’ve heard so many good reviews about it and have been waiting for it to come to Singapore! So it’s a luminous liquid foundation that provides 15 hours of hydration and is supposed to give a weightless medium to full coverage. It claims to give an immediate glow and improved natural luminosity within a week because of the vitamin C in it and is supposed to reduce the appearance of dark spots. And the Silver Ear Mushroom Extract is supposed to hydrate and smooth skin instantly to provide 15 hours of hydration. It’s also fragrance-free, non-comedogenic and dermatologist-tested. Laura Mercier also released a Flawless Finish Makeup Sponge that you’re supposed to buy separately for the best application of this foundation. I didn’t get the sponge though as I read some bad reviews about it (it’s small surface area etc). You’re also supposed to avoid applying too much foundation to the middle of the face for the best results. The bottle is beautiful, very luxurious looking a glass with a matte gold cap but also very small lol. I got the shade 1N1 Creme – fair with neutral undertones. So I am happy to say I love this foundation! The texture is gorgeous and it goes on my face really smoothly and is so blendable (blending is such a problem for me). I would say it provides a light to medium coverage, not full coverage though. It also does give your skin a luminous radiant glow without making it look oily. And it is also really hydrating and after the entire day still looks really good and doesn’t settle into my fine lines as much as other foundations do. I honestly don’t know if it has improved my skin’s luminosity yet after using it for a few weeks lol. The only issue I have is I feel the 30 shade range is somewhat limited and this particular shade 1N1 Creme is way too yellow for my skin and definitely not for neutral undertones. But the shades with cool undertones were also way too pink for me and not typical cool undertones either. I feel like they definitely should do something about the shades! But overall I love it and would definitely repurchase it.

So I love the foundation and would definitely recommend trying it but not the lip colour, bisous! X

Meditation for beginners

pic 94.jpg
Love this scene in Bangkok ❤

Meditation is the practice of turning one’s mind to a single point of reference. You focus on being present instead of being distracted by all the thoughts and feelings that usually fill your mind. You don’t turn off these thoughts and feelings, but instead learn to observe them without judgement.

I think the first time I ever heard someone talk about and recommend meditation I was amused. To be present for a period of time and just focus on your breath sounds odd and probably a waste of time right? How would that be enjoyable or beneficial in any way?

When I tried meditating for the first time I really struggled to focus on my breath, all kind of thoughts were coming in and distracting me. And I was really surprised at how difficult it was. It’s funny though I read that the more you struggle to meditate the more you need to.

The more I meditated, the easier it got. Learning how to meditate is just like learning any other skill, you need practice. And the more you do it, the better you get at it. I think of it as a mental gym. So many people want to stay physically healthy and exercise at the gym regularly. But how many people make mental health a priority and exercise their mind regularly?

I actually only meditate for 10 – 15 minutes a day at the moment which I think is good enough, for now. Plus if you just commit to a short time period everyday you’re more likely to follow through with it. And you get a ton of benefits just by setting aside just a few minutes a day to meditate. After each session I usually feel a sense of calm and peace that I’ve pretty much become addicted to.

Some Benefits of Meditation

  • Reduces stress
  • Reduces pain
  • Improves sleep
  • Improves immune system
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Helps depression, anxiety
  • Improves mindfulness
  • Increases creativity
  • Improves productivity
  • Improves relationships

My personal goal is to create an inner calm and inner acceptance that will be constant through the ups and downs of life, and to have a balanced healthy mind.

There are lots of great apps that can help you get started with meditation. My three favourite ones are Headspace, Calm and The Mindfulness App. I am currently using Headspace that’s my favourite and I find it amazing! I bought a one month subscription for unlimited access to the Headspace library for USD95.88. It offers mini meditations, themed meditations, mindfulness exercises, sleep meditations, headspace for kids and an even a super cute animation library. I would definitely recommend checking out these apps, giving meditation a go and discovering all the benefits for yourself! X

Valentine treats

PIC 91.jpg
From my Valentine ❤

It’s Valentines day again, one of the best times of the year!! Whats there not to like about celebrating love and giving and receiving (especially receiving) chocolates, candy and cakes lol.

I love chocolates, cake and ice-cream. This Valentines Day my boyfriend got me a perfect mix- the petite red velvet ice cream cake from The Dark Gallery, a box of chocolate hearts from Laurent Bernard Chocolatier, oh and some really cute bright balloons.

PIC 90.jpg
Petite Red Velvet ice cream cake (melting fast)

I love red velvet cake but I’ve never actually tried red velvet ice cream cake but it has to be good! This Petite Red Velvet ice cream from The Dark Gallery is layered on top of a bed of dark chocolate cake and topped with chocolate glaze artisanal macarons and baked meringue. So sinful and so decadent!! It cost S$ 48 and it serves 2-4 people. The Dark Gallery is a relatively new shop in Takashimaya specialising in dark chocolate treats. They have cakes, ice cream cakes, chocolates, pastries and macarons. And everything looks so gorgeous!! They also have a sit-in area if you want to have your dessert there. This cake is particularly beautiful with pinks purples whites and dark chocolates – perfect for Valentines. It was almost a shame to cut into it and eat it. And when I actually did OMG it was amazing!! It was so creamy and rich and the red velvet ice-cream and chocolate was a perfect combi. I actually finished half the cake tonight lol. The macarons were really good as well. I would definitely recommend trying it if you are a red velvet fan! (who isn’t??)

PIC 92.jpg
Laurent Bernard Valentine’s chocolate box

The Laurent Bernard Valentine’s chocolate box retails at S$ 32 and my boyfriend got it from Takashimaya food hall. Laurent Bernard is known for their luxury chocolates and fabulous cakes, and there is a dine-in cafe at Robertson Quay. The box is a dreamy tiffany-blue colour with a white bow and a red interior – stunning! And the texture of the box is really cool. There are 6 pretty heart-shaped chocolates in the box, and you can pick and mix the various flavours to customize your box. The red hearts are strawberry milk chocolate filled with strawberry puree. The white hearts are passion fruit milk chocolate filled with passion fruit puree. The brown hearts are milk chocolate with almond filling. They also have dark chocolate, and white chocolate with a jasmine filling but I didn’t get those. I liked the strawberry and passion fruit chocolates – those were really fruity and yummy. I didn’t like the milk chocolate one at all though it wasn’t milky and I didn’t taste any almonds at all, plus it had a weird after-taste. Overall I wouldn’t say the chocolates were spectacular but I’m definitely keeping the lovely box.

Bioderma deal

pic 87.jpgI’ve been using Bioderma products for the last 5 years ever since my dermatologist recommended it to me and they have never disappointed me. Bioderma is a French brand that specialises in dermalogical and scalp conditions.

Watsons is currently having a few special deals for Chinese New Year and one of them is a ‘buy 2 get 1 free’ for Bioderma products. I bought the micelle solution and the cleansing foaming gel and got another micelle solution for free. It’s a great deal!!

My skin is really sensitive and reactive so I usually buy the products in the ‘sensitive skin’ range (the pink collection).

pic 89.jpg

I swear by the Bioderma make-up removing micelle solution that is supposed to cleanse and sooth sensitive skin. It is one of Bioderma’s best sellers and I got the 250 ml bottle for S$28.90. It comes in a simple clear and pink bottle. I use it to take off my make-up and it removes water-proof make up as well. I find that it cleanses my skin really well, is gentle and not too drying. And it also doesn’t cause any break-outs which is a major plus! Love the fact that its also paraben free and hypoallergenic. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin who is looking for a make-up remover that isn’t too harsh and doesn’t clog up your pores.

pic 88.jpg

This is the first time I’ve gotten the Bioderma mild cleansing foaming gel for sensitive skin that is supposed to soothe and moisturise. It’s a 200 ml bottle that costs S$33.90. Its paraben free, colorant-free, fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. It also has lipid restoring properties. It comes in a cute clear and pink bottle that matches the micelle solution bottle and the gel is pink. I’ve only used it a few times but I really like it as well. It does give my skin moisture while cleansing it and my skin feels really supple and soft after. It also hasn’t caused any break-outs. A little bit goes a long way as well and I only need a tiny bit each time I wash my face.

I really like Bioderma products and recommend that you try the micelle solution and cleansing gel if you have sensitive skin like me! Check out the great deals at Watsons and happy Chinese New Year! X
